Welcome to the Euroserie Supertwin Topgas homepage

Congratulations to our 2008 champion

Frank Heitmann, Germany.

welcome racefans

Hockenheim, Nitrolypix. Race number six.

A very big and fast field of eightteen riders entered the supertwin topgas class to qualify for an eight field dragrace. Roman Sixta came all the way fron the Czech republic, and even a team from Finland had signed on.

Miia-Maria Vepsäläinen is the name of the young female rider.

Brian Glaesner could become the new champion, if he advanced one round more than Frank Heitmann, so lots of exitement and expectations.
Friday started with rain, and it looked like it was gonna stay wet all day. So the Danish teams went to the motorsport museum next door. It dried up later in the afternoon, so the first qualification round was held without the teams of Tinndahn, Glaesner and Tiel.

Cord Albers was the best that day. He did an 8.2 like he allways does.

Everybody who was not wearing ear-protection allready, went to do so after Roman Sixta and Harry van Schie started their supercharged bikes. The sound of their burnout echoed between the grandstands for a while.

Thomas "Monster" Greubel from Bavaria had a big team, a "top fuel size" race truck and a television crew with him, but he qualified at the bottom of the field.

But we will see them next week, they will get the bike running, I'm sure.

Michael Merse's team was split up by strickt camping rules in the pits. Ina and Horst were parked elsewhere. But that did not stop them from hard racing and throwing a little party afterwards! Thanks for the beer, boys!

Piet Verhoef had done some testing, and a new personal best of 9.05 was his reward.

Here is Piet in the left lane against Jesper Tiel, who had trouble with the startlights and his gearbox.

Criss van Nimmen from Belgium was a busy man, racing in two classes.

Criss had allready tested his bike, the weekend before, and gamaged a cam shaft. A team member went home to repair, so he was ready to rumble.

Mark Vandenboer, also from Belgium, had put a Bentec 2-speed gearbox and sliderclutch in his bike. He is still in a test fase, with lots of changes every race.

Here you see him in the left lane against his friend Ludo Scheepens.

Rainer Oberle qualified number thirteen wth his pussycat-harley

On saturday morning the sun came out and all topgassers went into the line-up for the second round. Brian had set up his clutch real hard and was gonna try to do a seven second pass and break the class record.
But instead, his bike didn't run well and he qualified number 18! Tom Tinndahn did an inpressive 7.24 on the Buell G2, taking the lead easy.

The gap with the number two, Cord Albers was about 0.1 second!
A third and last round was held that afternoon, and Frank Heitmann and Brian Glaesner advanced into the top eight qualifying number 4 and 5, and were to meet eachother in the quarter finals!

Cord and Bernd Niessen, team mates in the pits, were now eachothers enemies.

Harry van Schie and Roman Sixta did the loudest pass in our class when they raced eachother, and Harrie managed to qualify number 8, so he was up against Tom Tinndahn, and Herman Jolink had the strong Tommy Karlsson as his opponent.
Frank Peisker was the first alternate, but none of the quarter finalists failed to start.

Frank was enjoying the conveiniance of a pitbox, about a half a mile closer to the startline as the rest of the racers.

Tom Tinndahn gave Harry van Schie a head start, but he passed him at 300 meters and did a 7.21 @ 296 Kmh.

Harry and his team were happy with a new personal best of 8.32 sec.

The big supprise: Brian's bike stopped after the burnout, so Heitmann advanced to the semi finals easiely, and the championship was still undecided!

Bernd Niessen left the startline much earlier then Cord Albers, as you can see here, but both riders were disqualified because the autostart software did not register anything! And Tommy Karlsson redlighted against Herman Jolink. He was very disappointed about it, his 8.30 would have been enough to to beat Herman with his 8.6.

Tommy was later give the award for best appearing bike, so he did not go back to Sweden with empty hands.
Semi finals, and some more luck for Frank Heitmann, his opponent Tinndahn made a redlight. And Herman Jolink had a bye run because Bernd and Cord were both out.

Frank was a bit worried, last time in Drachten he was beaten by Jolink, but this time no problems for Heimann this time. His bike ran fine, 8.4 sec, while Herman got a redlight for waiting too long to activate the stage light.

With this victory, Frank Heitmann bridged a big piece of the gap between him and Brian Glaesner. So the championship will be decided next week in Drachten.

Bernd Niessen and his wife are expecting a junior (drag racer) so Bernd will stay at home. That means that Herman Jolink made the third place in the euroserie.

What else happened?

In the V-rod Destroyer cup class the victory went to Stefan Schnarwiller from Switserland, by beating Sacha Brodbeck in the finals ( 9.42sec against 9.45).

The Probike class winner was Christian Jaeger. The team finally has the "Black Seven" funnybike running like the clappers, and they won the race with a new pb of 7.51!

Lex Joon set a new track record with 4.77 seconds on the quarter mile.
