Unfortunately the organizers of Drachten have cancelled upcoming race in august because of the lack of riders.

Race #3 Bechine, Czech rep.

A weather report instead of a race report, this time.

Six teams showed up and got 100 points for technical inspection. Fredrick Schack from Denmark,

Peter Niklas and Frank Heitmann, Germany, Belgian Chris van Nimmen, and Harry van Schie and Herman Jolink from Holland. Our champion Milan Kolacny was also camping in the pits, mainly to have a drink with his buddies, after he destroyed some engines recently, so was unable to race.

The forecast already looked bad, a few days before, an awfull 70 mm of rain was predicted for saturday, and rain on all days, but nobody foresaw it would be that bad!

The track was open for free practice at friday, late in the afternoon, but a small lake had emerged at the finish line, so quarter mile runs were not possible. Lots of people had smart ideas how to solve that problem, not knowing of what was about to come.

Peter Niklas took the turbocharged Honda out for two short tests,

and him an Christian Bruhn were analising data after that to further tune the new electonics they fitted to the bike.

Former topgasser Marc van den Boer came to Bechyne with a new cranckshaft in his motor, less cubic inches but a higher compression, and had not tested it yet.

On Saturday morning just a few pair of racers in the "street class" could try to qualify, then it started to rain heavily, and it never stopped pouring down for the rest of the weekend.

On sonday on the way home we saw the fire brigade starting to pump out a basement, somewhere near Plzen.
It cleared up as we got above Wurtzburg, then we heard the news on the radio that the Czech rep was in a state of emergency, and also Austria, Switserland and Germany were suffering from high water and even land slides.
A major disaster.

The next topgas race will be at the "Days of Thunder" on an extremely well prepared track in Vandel, Denmark.
